Chef Brian Magee

Cooks with Passion, fresh local ingredients.

 

Brian Magee is one chef who really knows how to “kick it up a notch.” Brian an ex-mixed martial art fighter may get some extra Bam in his cooking.  “People can’t imagine that a fighter can cook, let alone cook healthy stuff”. 

 

He was born in Kitchener, but has lived in a number of cities with his parents, who owned Tim Horton’s franchises in Ingersoll and Woodstock. He attended high school in Woodstock and played for the London Beefeaters football team.  That led to a football scholarship at Michigan State University, which was cut short by severe knee injuries.

 

Magee then took a culinary program at George Brown College in Toronto.  He worked at several Toronto restaurants and Ingersoll’s Elmhurst Inn.

 

He lives in London with his wife and two young children.

Favourite dishes to prepare:

Rustic comfort food sexied up with an international twist

Pizza – “I always have homemade dough in the freezer at home.”

 

Favourite kitchen utensil:

A mandolin, a device used for slicing and shredding

 

Sweet tooth:

Homemade ice cream and Bailey’s crème brulee.

 

Biggest flop: 

“I can’t bake meringue or Yorkshire pudding.  It just won’t fluff up.”
